I could slap at these pants
Fifty times
And that waft of dust would still
Erupt forth
Caught like slow-motion starburst
In the sunbeam
Of the County Clerk’s Office

And I’ll be damned if it isn’t a furnace in here
But these dusty trousers are downright embarrassing
So we’re doing this, I guess
And heck yes, I love her
(as, with a sweet smile, she stops the cacophony
by gently drawing my hand to her side)
