Eastern Rap

James Bond-eye

I had to grow up in the Eastern part of Sydney
Because my father had a lot of money didn't he
And so they made me go through all the private schoolin
but that don't stop me now from always bein foolin
that I'm a badass motherfucker in from L A
I never been there but I've seen it on the tellay
in fact I've never been to west of Bondi Junction
I don't do drive by shooting I do golf club luncheon
the only black kid I know was scholarship holder
he broke a leg and so they called his mum and told her
to come and pick up and remove this bloody token
and send another one who isn't fuckin broken
he can't play rugby union while he's always limping
so he can go back to the pushing and the pimping

I wear a gold chain it don't mean I'm misbehavin
I need some place to know where I have to stop shavin
The only pistol that I've held was filled with water
but that don't mean that you should trust me with your daughter
and I don't give a fuck if you don't see my merit
I'm gonna be someone the day that I inherit
This BMW is only for the meantime
you better not take up any of my screentime

I'm staying eastern and the only time I'm fleein'
Is to the airport and then on to do some ski-in'
They say that we have snow-capped mountains in Australia
But I won't go there if there's not a market failure
and that's the sort of thing that mother simply must fund
or else what is the point of grandpa's fuckin trust fund?
I gotta go now cause I'm puttin out my feeler
down to the Golden Sheaf where I can meet my dealer
I had a chance to have a proper education
But now I'm dissing it for backstreet medication
if I don't know you its because you have no money
it's just the truth you know I isn't being funny

Cud contributor Andrew Coorey whose previous poems you can read in our archives is now mentoring a promising Sydney non-African rap artist, James Bond-eye. James is set to team up with local DJ Mumz Carr and they will be cutting this track as soon as they can find the right producer, and a fuel card.
